LAST MONDAYS IN
STUDIO A
(April 3, 2005)
A concert in Stax studio A was performed by William Bell last monday. The Bo-Keys backed William Bell with Ben Cauley (Trumpet, only survivor in Otis's plane crash) , Skip Pitts (guitar), Robert Claybourne (keyboards) Willie Hall on drums , along with Marc Franklin and Jim Spake on horns. The room is great with wonderful accoustics. Very intimate setting wich gives the feeling of being in your living room. Approximatley 100 people very relaxed .Imagine sipping a glass of wine and having MR. BELL sing for you live. At on point Marvell Thomas joined us and William so relaxed introduced him to the audience as Rufus Thomas' son. William Bell also dueted with Deanie Parker on his "Private Number" hit. After the show the floor was opened up for questions to Mr. Bell where he dazzled his audience with honest and emotional spirit. I can attest that in all my concert experiences this was over the top. What if Otis had lived : could we have stood it? The show has been recorded on video for the Stax Museum. (This report thanks to our friend Carl "Blue" Wise, record producer in Memphis)
