The
Memphis Horns in 77: Andrew Love, James Mitchell, Jack
Hale, Wayne Jackson and Lewis Collins. (Patrick Montier
collection). |
Three photos of the Lamar movie
theatre on Lamar ave. in Memphis. This building was once
considered as a possible location for the Stax studio.
Ironically, it is still standing today, though unused.
Photo thanks to Joe Pusateri, our Memphis photographic
historian, February 2001. |
Can I get your ticket, please?!
The Otis Redding Show, July 24th 1966, Philadelphia.
French EP by the Mar-Keys, 1962, my first Stax recording
(under the Atlantic label). An early photo of the Mar-Keys
(Packy Axton and Wayne Jackson on first row). |
Joe Tex, unknown lady, Benny
Saunders, Bernie Hayes in 1970 (photo Bernie Hayes). Two
Memphis recording studios used by Stax over the years:
Ardent and Royal (Hi Records, an old movie theatre too).
Both photos shot in 2000, thanks to Joe Pusateri. |
Various Stax artists' posters
from the early and mid 60's. (personnal collection).
The third one is obviously a fake as Otis, Sam Cooke and
Little Richard never toured together in UK. |
Various full page Stax ads from Billboard
and Cash Box magazines, second part of the 60's. (personnal
collection). |
The Dock Of The Bay original music sheet. Otis Redding in the Stax studio. Otis at the Olympia, Paris. September 66 (photo J-L Rancurel). |
