First two photos: The Bar-Kays (early 1968, soon after Otis' plane crash). l to r: Ronnie Gorden, Ben Cauley, James Alexander, Michael Toles, Harvey Henderson, Roy Cunningham. Third photo: Ben Cauley and Ronnie Gorden at the Whiskey-A -Go-Go, LA, 22 august 1969. (exclusive photos from Ron Gorden, never seen before).

Some more Stax artefacts: small promotional matchbooks, circa 1972. These are ultra-rare front-striking ones: soon after these were made, the US government allowed only rear-striking ones! A "Deck Is Stax" promo catalog from the last years of Stax, with all the LPs front  covers inside. A rare photo of the Bar-Kays from 1968, taken inside the Stax building (same photo session as the well known one under the Stax marquee. (objects and photo great thanks to Bar-Kays' member then Stax Advertising Manager, Ron Gorden).

Otis Redding in his Big "O" Ranch, 1967 (Newton Collier collection).

A very unusual item!! It's a $60.69 bank draft to David Porter, signed by Jim Stewart and his secretary, Linda Andrews, in 1969 (Newton Collier collection).

For the most avid Otis Redding collectors, here is his very rare original very first 45 on Confederate, thanks again to Scott Johnson. A couple of interesting things about it:  as you can clearly see by the label,  "Fat Gal" is the A-Side.  It has always been misidentified as the B-Side. On the Orbit issue, "Fat Gal" is the A-Side also.  US price guides incorrectly list the Orbit issue as being the first.  The Confederate issue was the first.  When Black radio would not play a single with a Confederate Flag on it the label was renamed Orbit, and the single reissued!
