BIOGRAPHY
C L Blast's real name
is Clarence Lewis and he's been recording since the 1954 (Red
Robin 136) as Clarence "Junior" Lewis/Little Junior
Lewis and Junior Lewis. He was associated with Red
Robin's owner Bobby Robinson in NYC until the early '60s and also
recorded (3 singles) for Robinson's Fury
label. He did production and writing work - his name
appears on songs like Lee Dorsey's "Ya Ya", Elmore
James "The Sky Is Crying", Buster Brown's "Fannie
Mae";.Don Gardner/Dee Dee Ford's "I Need Your Lovin'",
Gladys Knight's "You Broke Your Promise" and the (fantastic)
"Valerie" by Jackie &
The Starlites among many others. After working with
Bobby Robinson he recorded for Columbia, Atco, Scepter and MGM
before going to Stax, Hip (Stax subsidiary) and Clintone.
